While in Europe, Madam Glassco will participate in the Last Science-Policy Session of PREFACE International Conference on Ocean, Climate and Ecosystem.
According to a dispatch, the conference which begins Tuesday April 17th to Thursday 19th 2018 of this week will bring together European and African Experts to discuss issues relating to the improvement of the Fishery Sector especially highlighting observation, Marine Ecosystem, among others.
Director General Glassco has promised to reform the Liberian Fishery sector with the help of International Partners including the World Bank, European Union and Iceland, among other partners.
Meanwhile, several of Liberia’s International Partners have pledged support to the development of the Liberian Fishery sector with the latest support from the World Bank, Iceland and the European Union.
At the recent International meeting held at the Monsurado Pier, the World Bank promised to embark on the development of an export and import terminal for Fisheries.
Meanwhile, the European Union has committed a grant of US$10 Million for dredging of the fishing harbor, installation of cold storage facilities in major fishing communities, and investing in the research and initiation of robust Aquaculture activities to boost Liberia’s export capacity. For her part, the government of Iceland has promised capacity building support to the Fishery Sector.
